Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology in RGSSH was established by Dr. Sonali Bhattar (MBBS,MD) in 2016. It caters to a variety of patient samples primarily in the diagnosis of infective micro-organisms. The department also houses a state-of-art molecular laboratory with unidirectional workflow. The future plans are set to include a full-fledged tuberculosis setup with liquid culture capabilities in addition to staining and CB-NAAT being done now. Identification and susceptibility testing is being done by automated and manual methods. The department also has serological capabilities for viral detection as well as for acute phase reactants. The department aims to be the focal point for advanced microbiological diagnostics in the East Delhi region.
